Professional Dog Training in Connecticut—Private Dog Trainers in CT
If you're looking for dog training in Connecticut, you've come to the right place. Let our experienced dog trainers in Connecticut show you how to transform your dog's behavior quickly and effectively — without the need for clickers, treats, prong collars, or e-collars.
Our training methods focus on getting your dog to be obedient for the right reasons: fostering a strong working bond between you and your dog. We specialize in developing a relationship that is kind, affectionate, fair, and cooperative. With our approach to dog training in CT, your dog will become obedient through trust and mutual respect.
There's no shortage of dog trainers in CT, but what sets Best Buddy Dog Training apart is our emphasis on the human's role in shaping their dog's behavior and attitude. We teach you how to guide your dog into a happy, peaceful, and cooperative role with you. While most dog training classes focus almost exclusively on basic commands like "sit," we emphasize general obedience and effective communication. It's not just commands that create a calm and obedient dog — it's the right attitude, affection, and trust.
Our skilled private dog trainers in CT will show you how to teach your dog a handful of powerful behavior modifiers. These techniques have a profound impact on your dog's psychology, with immediate results. Commands like "follow," where your dog walks 3 to 6 feet behind you, promote respect and attentiveness. The "go on" command encourages your dog to move 6 to 10 feet away and disengage when necessary. The "down/stay" command trains your dog to lie down and stay for extended periods, enhancing self-control and calmness. Just these three techniques can dramatically improve your life with your dog.
But there's more. We help you develop trust and respect so that your dog will defer to your decisions no matter what. Leadership is more powerful than instinct, and dogs quickly recognize and accept leadership when it's given with clear communication and guidance. Many of our clients come to us after spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on dog training classes, only to still struggle with issues like jumping, running away, chasing other animals, and general unruliness.
We also offer aggressive dog training in Connecticut. If your dog exhibits aggressive behavior, our expert trainers can address and modify these behaviors safely and effectively. Instead of spending thousands on a dog behaviorist who may recommend mood-altering medications, consider our humane and effective training methods. We believe in fair and natural techniques that are in the best interest of your dog.

Dog Board And Train 'Boot Camp' in Connecticut
Some dogs are more difficult, aggressive, and/or the problems have persisted and developed so that the best option is to send the dog away for boot camp. Our boot camp dog board and train program is unique because your dog will live with and work around our pack of (well-trained, well-behaved) dogs as well as living among and working around other animals. Instead of a kennel environment, your dog will be living in our trainer’s home and learning throughout the day instead of limited half-hour session once or twice per day. Visit our dog board and train page for more information.
We provide dog training services throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Rhode Island.
